JamilaWorking Through Change

Whether managing emotions, school, career, relationships, and other life transitions, life is always challenging.

An effective support system to navigate the process is essential for long-term success.

How I Work

As a therapist, I aim to provide mental health support and reduce the mental health stigma among young people and minorities.

In a warm, nonjudgmental, and welcoming environment, we create a safe space for open communication and healing.

Utilizing various client-centered therapeutic approaches like Cognitive-Behavioral and Solution-Focused Therapy, you’ll learn to overcome obstacles and live a more meaningful life.

Experience

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and behavior therapist specializing in ABA therapy.

I’ve worked with children from preschool to middle age as a substitute teacher at Jewish Day School in Hyde Park for years. As on-site aquatics director for the Jewish Community Center’s Hyde Park location, I created and implemented swim programs specializing in working with students on the spectrum.

In addition to being a high school swim and water polo coach, I work as a paraprofessional in the Chicago Public School system.

Education

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hampton University, I obtained my master’s in Community Counseling at Argosy University-Chicago. I’m enrolled at the Adler School of Professional Psychology, pursuing a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology emphasizing children and adolescents.

Informed by my background in coaching, I specialize in mental health and wellness for high school, collegiate, and professional athletes.

This training offers valuable insight into my work with children, adolescents, families, young adults, and minorities inside and outside the school environment.

Outside of the Office

When I’m not helping people achieve their mental health goals, I enjoy cooking, bowling, and singing karaoke!
